Tornado JV runs roughshod over Bandys

Casey Stinson...TOUCHDOWN!

The Young Tornadoes pushed the JV winning streak to 58 with a 30-6 thrashing of the previously undefeated Bandys Trojans (2-1, 0-1) Thursday night. The visitors from Balls Creek had no answer for Hickory's trio of running backs: sophomore T.J. Wimbush and freshmen Casey Stinson and Quai Linebarger.

Stinson led Hickory in scoring with touchdown runs of 78 and 28 yards. He was also the game's leading rusher with 154 yards on only five carries (30.8 yards per carry). Wimbush opened the scoring for Hickory with a 65-yard run immediately after Bandys took a brief 6-0 lead. Wimbush was second in yards rushing with 99 on six carries (16.5 per carry). Hickory got 2-point conversions from a run by Linebarger and a pass from quarterback Kyle Johnson to Jordan Walls-Davis. The score was 24-6 at halftime.

The only scoring in the second half was by Linebarger, on a run of five yards. Linebarger totaled 68 yards rushing on 11 carries (6.2 per carry). As a team, Hickory rushed for 364 yards on 27 carries (13.4 per carry).

The victory sets up a cross-town showdown next week when the Tornadoes pay a visit to St. Stephens. The Indians (2-0, 1-0) defeated Newton-Conover, 39-29, based in large part on 315 all-purpose yards by sophomore Devon Shuford.
