What history tells us...

This isn't the first time that Hickory has lost to Statesville. It just feels like it because it hasn't happened since September 7, 2001. And the last time Hickory lost in Greyhound Hollow was in 1994. And don't forget that Hickory went into the Hollow twice in 1996 and whipped the Greyhounds soundly both times - the second game being the West Region championship game.

But on those rare occasions when the Greyhounds find a way to get a win off the Red Tornadoes the consequences for the next several years are severe indeed. Consider this: Statesville's last three wins over Hickory have occurred in 1994, 2001 and now 2008. For the record, Hickory leads the series, 27-20. But let me illustrate what the Greyhounds can expect in the future, based on what has happened in the past:
Hickory 14-10
Statesville 19-7
Hickory 15-13
Hickory 42-10 (reg season)
Hickory 35-0 (playoffs)
Hickory 30-6
Hickory 13-12
Hickory 39-22
Hickory 20-13
Statesville 37-23
Hickory 27-6
Hickory 21-0
Hickory 28-6
Hickory 33-7
Hickory 30-0
